3 Bus Trip Travel Destinations From Toronto

In the good ole days you would be getting kids ready for school, summer camps, organized sporting events, recitals you name it. Then you would head off to work and some would say that is a good balance in life. Now fast forward to the new world order and you are spending your day juggling work remotely with trying to keep the kids from ACTUALLY killing themselves…rinse and repeat for time unknown. This seems like a good time for that old commercial “Calgon…take me away” as the moment would be quite fitting in our current circumstances…;-)  So to channel our inner Calgon moment, close your eyes and let me take you away…

New York City

Statue Of Liberty in fog

It is unfortunate what is going on in New York City and the surrounding areas with the outbreak and our prayers and well wishes go out to everyone involved for a speedy recovery. Now when things do get back to some sort of norm, New York is a place that during the summer it seems as if there is a festival going on every weekend. Street closures everywhere with mini pop up flea markets and food vendors. There are also marathons, bike rides and endless parades that are happening as well. Don’t forget Christmas and of course the infamous ball drop in Times Square on New Years Eve. The point I am trying to make is that this is a year round city that never disappoints.

You can go from seeing pop up skating rinks, to a massive Christmas tree (69-100 ft tall) or maybe this spring take in the Easter Parade, how about a nice walk above the city along the old railroad turned into a park walk, shopping at Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall with over 200 stores or maybe in the summer renting a bike and riding through Central Park, maybe some upscale shopping on 5th Ave and ladies you really wanna do the Sex and the City bus tour.

So no matter what your heart desires, if it involves fun and non-stop action then New York City is a definite to do on your list.

Chicago

I don’t know Chicago that well, but I can say that this place has a vibe about it that is hard to explain. It could be the undeniable imagery you are faced with once arriving to the downtown area near Millennium Park. You will notice in parts of the city waterways that weave throughout carry passengers on boat tours one of which is an architecture tour. This is because when you are looking at the downtown buildings it is an amazing mixture of old, new and even circular buildings with a circular parking lot at least 3 or 4 stories above ground. Not to mention all the Jazz bars, clubs and restaurants in the area, it is just a different vibe as a whole and a good place to just lose yourself in yourself. A great time to visit Chicago would be in my opinion in the summer during the the food festival “The Taste Of Chicago” held in Millennium Park. Food, drink, jazz and architecture. What more can you ask for?

Grande Allee restaurants

Montreal/Quebec City

Both places are great in their own right, so with Montreal summer is a great time from the Grand Prix to huge beach parties, Night life to please all. Not to mention New Years Eve in Montreal is a an amazing experience. As you can see from my description of Montreal it is quite the party town.

Having said that, Quebec City has a bit of a different feel from the old cobble stone buildings or the city block on both sides of the street lined with restaurants, bars, nightclubs all with outdoor patio seating. The vibe there on a summer night is absolutely amazing. This city is rich in history and I won’t go into details but it may be worth googling for some.

My Top 3 Movies/TV Shows Of All-Time

The Covid-19 pandemic has us binge watching TV Shows and Movies for a while now. So I figured I would put out my list of Movies and TV Shows that I see as my top 3. This was an impossible list to try and come up with because 3 is certainly not enough, but it leaves room for some interesting answers as you trim down your answers. So with out further delay, here are my top 3 favourites.

Denzel Washington in the foreground with Ethan Hawke pictured behind him in the background

#3

Movie - Training Day with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke

I loved this movie from the jump with it’s focus on dirty cops, life in the hood of LA, bumping music you can feel in your chest and of course the back stab. Most of all for me seeing Denzel play that role and make me believe him is why I loved this movie so much.

Jason Bateman shown on his knees with his hands tied around his back.

#3

TV Show - Ozark with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney

I stumbled onto this show because as a motor coach driver I actually had to drive through the Ozark’s on a quilting trip…lol…yes, a quilting trip. Anyways, after coming home I saw the show on Netflix and figured I would give it a shot and oh boy am I glad I did. Can I just say that Marty and Wendy Byrde are the perfect couple! This show has ups and downs, shocking moments, sad moments, heart felt moments and a lot of ruthlessness to go around. This show is worth taking a look at.

Police line up of 5 suspects

#2

Movie - The Usual Suspects with Kevin Spacey and Gabriel Byrne

This was a star studded movie that according to Wikipedia was shot on a 6 million dollar budget back in 1995. I loved the way the movie was told in the past tense and narrated quite well. The shock for me was the ending as I didn’t see that one coming and that is why it is number 2 on my list.

Bryan Cranston half face shot with Aaron paul in the background

#2

TV Show - Breaking Bad with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul

This show had an amazing 5 year run and it was one of those shows that ended the way it was supposed to. (not like “LOST”…the ending still irks me to this day) I think I have a soft spot for criminals as I watch this list take shape…lol

Uma Thurman lying on her stomach smoking a cigarette.

#1

Movie - Pulp Fiction with Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta

This star studded movie directed by Quentin Tarantino is by far hands down my favourite movie of all time! This was the first movie that took I think it was 3-4 separate story lines, maintaining that separation until a little past half way through and then started weaving all the story lines together. It was unbelievable to watch at the time as I was saying to myself what does each story have to do with the other as the movie was playing. Then you start getting that uh huh moment as the movie starts to come to a close. This is a must watch movie if you have never seen it!

TV Show - The Walking Dead/Fear The Walking Dead

If at the very least you haven’t heard of The Walking Dead, then you truly are living under a rock! This show along with it’s spin off counter part (Fear TWD) that aired when TWD was in production (off season) was perfect timing for us diehard TWD fans. It basically meant we could be watching zombie TV all year long. I initially fought watching this show (TWD) as I hate blood and gore (now I watch UFC and TWD…go figure), but after TWD took North America by storm. I mean talk shows, radio stations, athletes, co-workers, dammit I finally gave in to the peer pressure about a year later and never looked back. I luuuuuuvvvvvvvvv this show, probably in part because so many main characters get killed off that it pisses me off that I have to watch more…lol…so if you haven’t noticed, I recommend this show. Watch out for the new spin off “World Beyond”!

This is my list of favourites but to be honest there are so many other shows out there that could have made the list like “Making A Murderer”, Silver Linings Playbook, Alias, Life Of Pi and the list goes on.

What is your favourite Movie/TV Show of all-time? Let me know in the comments below.
